Well, Not Quite...

For those of you who don't know, several months ago, I applied to a graduate school in Mumbai, India to get my Master's of Art in Social Work. The school, called Tata Institute of Social Sciences, is very reputable, and I was extremely honored when I found out a few weeks ago that I had officially been accepted to attend. So, in a matter of just a few weeks, I will be moving my little ol' self all the way across the ocean to India!!! The purpose of this blog is simply to keep my friends and family as up-to-date as I can on my daily life in Mumbai. I don't know how easy it will be to keep up with entries etc., but my goal is to post fairly regularly. At any rate, this blog should give you some idea of what my life is like on the other side of the world.

Okay, so I am not actually in India, yet. But since I leave for my two-year adventure on June 14th, I am in the process of saying my goodbyes and wrapping things up in the U.S. This weekend I said goodbye to my looooong time friend, Michelle. Michelle lives in Dallas, so I flew down for the weekend and hung out with her. While the visit was short, I enjoyed spending time with my elementary school buddy!

We packed quite a bit into my 2-day stay: walking around the beautiful gardens in the Arboretum, swimming (read: waiting in long lines) at Hurricane Harbor, and watching a fun, indie film at Magnolia Theater. One of my favorite things that we did was eat at Cosmic Cafe, an Indian-inspired, vegetarian restaurant. This picture is of Michelle and me in front of a Buddha that was on the side of the building.

And, just because I liked the Arboretum a lot, and I like my new camera even more, here are a few more pictures from the garden:
